SELECTION CAMP DETAILS FOR CANADA’S NATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM ANNOUNCED

SELECTION CAMP ROSTER TO BE ANNOUNCED ON DECEMBER 1ST
CALGARY, ALBERTA – Canada’s 2004 National Junior Team will be holding its selection camp December 11-18, 2003 in Kitchener, ON. Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey League will be naming the list of players invited to the selection camp on Monday, December 1st at www.hockeycanada.ca and at three press conferences (details and media invitations to follow).
The National Junior Team Selection Camp will feature practices, game-day skates, two intersquad games (Dec. 12, 13) and two games against an OUA All-Star Team (Dec. 14, 15). The coaching staff, comprised of head coach Mario Durocher (Lewiston, QMJHL) and assistant coaches Dean Chynoweth (Seattle, WHL) and Jim Hulton (Kingston, OHL) will use this camp to determine the final roster of 22 players on December 16th that will be heading to Finland on December 18th.
The National Junior Team selection camp will represent the final step in the process of naming Canada’s roster for the upcoming 2004 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Finland from December 26-January 5, 2004.
On December 1st, Hockey Canada’s Head Scout Blair Mackasey will announce the list of players that will be invited to the National Junior Team selection camp in Kitchener, ON December 11-18, 2003. Mackasey has spent the first few months of the 2003-04 season monitoring and evaluating Canadian junior-aged players across Canada and the United States, including but not limited to the 44 players that attended the National Junior Team Development Camp in August 2003 in Calgary, AB.
All practices, pre-game skates and the two intersquad games are free of charge and open to the public. Ticket information for both games against the OUA All-Stars is attached along with a complete selection camp schedule.
